This weekend we were lucky enough to win tickets from Modern Socialite to the Art of Cocktail event which was debuting in Calgary for the first time ever!
The event was held at the Jack Singer Concert Hall at EPCOR Centre for the Performing Arts and it was a great venue for the space and number of exhibitors they had. The event wasn't that busy, especially when compared to other wine or spirits events that I have attended in Calgary in the past. There was a good showing of restaurants, brand ambassadors and distilleries showcasing their products, many of which I hadn't seen before.
We did pass on some of the tastings since sipping straight alcohol isn't really our thing and instead we focused on different mixed drinks and preferably Gin which is a favorite of the boyfriend. He got to try out a bunch of new brands and had a lot of fun sampling and asking questions.
The winning drink of the evening was brought by Ox and Angela and it was a delicious mixed drink featuring Sherry and was reminiscent of Sangria. Very good! We went back for seconds and even e-mailed asking for details on how to make it at home.
There were very few food samples though which was a bit disappointing because with the amount you're drinking it would be nice to even everything out with some food.
Overall a great evening and hopefully it will become even more successful if it returns for a second year!
