How Do You Stay Relevant?

Sometimes it can be hard to stay or to feel relevant, the world moves so fast and new skill sets and requirements come up everyday. Who hasn't seen an infographic that shows their career of choice will be replaced by robots within the next X amount of years? I sure have!

This is why I really commend places like Skillshare an online learning and skills based platform where you can login and take classes for skills you may want to expand on or new hobbies or things that interest you. There's a monthly membership fee, paid classes and free classes!

Skillshare says:

Education is what someone tells you to do. Learning is what you do for yourself.

I love this! I think it's so important to constantly expand on your skills and make yourself more marketable in your chosen industry. Or give yourself the knowledge and skills required to take on a passion project or something you love just because.

In keeping with my 2014 goals to take an events based class I worked through Brand Marketing: Planning A Successful Event and although its not quite like a course I would take through a university or some of the other programs I was looking at I found it gave good insights and linked me to resources I didn't know about. Well worth the time I spent going through it (under an hour).
